Outa el Hammam Square & Kasbah
The beating heart of Chefchaouen: cafés under the plane trees, the Grand Mosque and the 15th-century Kasbah with its Andalusian garden, small ethnographic museum and a tower overlooking the medina.
The blue city is much more than its alleys: Akchour waterfalls, God's Bridge, the Rif mountains, hiking trails of Talassemtane National Park, sunsets at the Spanish Mosque… Here are our must-sees, with the riad's best advice.

The beating heart of Chefchaouen: cafés under the plane trees, the Grand Mosque and the 15th-century Kasbah with its Andalusian garden, small ethnographic museum and a tower overlooking the medina.

Get lost in the indigo-blue alleys, the most photographed in Morocco. The souks are full of local crafts: woven wool blankets from the Rif, leather, pottery, soap and mountain goat cheese.

At the eastern gate of the medina, the Ras El Ma spring has supplied the town for centuries. Women still wash wool here; it is also the trailhead for paths to the Spanish Mosque and the mountains.

Perched on the hill facing the town, this is THE viewpoint over Chefchaouen, especially at sunset when the blue city glows. An easy 30-minute walk up from Ras El Ma.

The must-do trip: deep in the Farda river gorges — riverside trails, turquoise natural pools, the great waterfall and the impressive natural arch of God's Bridge. Plan a full day; swimming possible in summer.

Around Chefchaouen, the park protects Morocco's rare fir forests and spectacular Rif landscapes. Hikes for all levels, mountain villages and Barbary macaques. Guides and advice at reception.
